Chemical Peels in Denver, CO

Reveal Radiant Skin with Facial Peels

A professional-grade chemical peel is a popular skin rejuvenation treatment for stimulating the skin’s natural healing process. Facial peels remove dead skin cells from the surface and improve skin appearance by:

Smoothing texture

Evening tone

Reducing fine lines and wrinkles

Improving acne and acne scars

Diminishing age spots

Addressing sun damage

Correcting hyperpigmentation

Treating melasma

Though primarily for the face, these peels can be applied to the neck, chest, and the backs of the hands. At Hollywood Body Laser Center, our skilled professionals work with you to create a custom treatment plan that helps you reach your skin goals.

The Process of Chemical Peels and Their Benefits

In a chemical peel treatment, an acidic solution is applied to the skin to remove damaged top layers, speed cell turnover, and boost collagen growth for a brighter, more even-toned complexion.

Our patients appreciate that chemical peels:

  • Are safe and FDA-cleared

  • Promote rejuvenated, younger-looking skin

  • Stimulate cellular renewal

  • Reveal a new layer of healthy skin

  • Are fast and virtually painless skin treatments

By creating a controlled injury at a specific depth, chemical peels stimulate new skin growth to improve skin texture and make it look more radiant.

Types of Chemical Peels

As nonsurgical solutions, chemical peels are outpatient procedures, which means you can return to your regular routine the same day. To address different skin concerns, we offer several different types of chemical peels, including:

SkinMedica Peel

We use three types of SkinMedica chemical peels depending on your skin concerns.

SkinMedica Illuminize Peel

This facial peel uses salicylic, mastic, and malic acids. This combination of ingredients increases skin’s radiance, restores a youthful appearance, and improves clarity and texture. It is a light peel intended for use with mild skin imperfections.

SkinMedica Revitalize Peel

The revitalize peel uses lactic and salicylic acid to address mild to moderate skin imperfections. It can treat fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation.

SkinMedica Rejuvenize Peel

This peel also uses lactic and salicylic acid but addresses moderate to severe skin imperfections. This is our strongest peel, delivering compelling results. For this reason, it is best to work your skin up to this peel strength.

iS CLINICAL PEEL

The iS Clinical chemical peel uses a combination of anti-inflammatory, fruit acid, and Glycolic acid ingredients. It improves the overall health and integrity of the skin to:

  • Promote wound healing and collagen synthesis

  • Increase cellular turnover and smooth skin

  • Enable deeper penetration of ingredients

  • Encourage exfoliation on the top layer of the skin

It is a gentle yet effective facial peel that resurfaces the skin for fast, lasting results.

Jessner Facial Peel

The Jessner chemical peel uses salicylic acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol to balance the skin, unclog pores, and reduce inflammation. Patients can achieve different results by choosing the number of layers applied, which determines the strength of the peel, such as:

  • 1-3 layers for a light peel

  • 4-6 layers for a medium peel

  • 7-8 layers for a deeper peel

This treatment improves overall skin texture and radiance, targeting acne, age spots, and melasma, all of which contribute to hyperpigmentation.

What to Expect During Your Chemical Peel Experience

Your treatment experience will be slightly different from someone else’s, depending on the strength of your peel.

Step 1: Anesthesia and Skin Cleansing

Anesthesia isn’t usually necessary for mild to medium peels. You may notice some stinging or burning until the peel is neutralized. During treatment, discomfort is minimized by chilling the skin with a small fan or the Zimmer skin cooling system. For very deep peels, most patients will need local anesthesia, strong oral or IV sedation, and pain medication. Your provider will cleanse your skin to prepare

Step 2: Applying the Peel

After your face has been cleansed and numbed (if necessary), the peel solution is applied and left on for a few minutes to an hour, depending on the type and potency of the peel and your skin’s sensitivity. You may feel mild to moderate itching, stinging, and burning while the solution is on your skin.

Final Steps

Once the acid application is complete, your doctor will apply a cold gauze compress to the skin to neutralize the acid. Your face is then cleansed thoroughly with cold water compresses, and moisturizer and sunscreen are applied to soothe and protect your skin.

After Your Chemical Peel: Recovery and Results

Light to medium peels require just two to four days of recovery time, when your skin may look sunburned and feel dry and sensitive. Downtime for deeper peels can last from seven to 12 days, with additional redness and flaking for up to three months. Recovery from deep phenol peels may also require prescription pain medication for the first week or two.

The amount of visible skin peeling post-treatment isn’t indicative of the success of the peel. Don’t pick at any peeling or flaking skin; follow your provider’s aftercare instructions to reduce the risk of infection or scarring.

When Do Chemical Peel Results Show?

You should begin to see improvements in your skin tone and texture as post-peel symptoms subside. Your complexion will continue to improve over time as new collagen forms, with final results visible within about three months. Depending on your peel’s strength and skincare habits, results could last anywhere from several months to 10 years.
